This is a documentary showcasing the plights of roadside entrepreneurs.

One of the greatest challenges facing the Nigerian economy is unemployment. Research shows that a greater population of Nigerians are not gainfully employed. Unemployment in Nigeria is one of the most critical problems the country is facing. The years of corruption, civil war, military rule, and mismanagement have hindered economic growth of the country.

As a result, the society has been marred with various forms of social vices including armed robbery, kidnapping, prostitution, advanced fee fraud and so on.

Year after year, the rate of unemployment continues to rise. The current economic situation of Nigeria has called for renewed vigor on the importance of entrepreneurship which seems to be the viable option for survival of many Nigerians as it provides food on the tables of so many Nigerians.

Almost everywhere you go, you will find people striving to survive; across our streets or major roads, busstops and roundabouts, you will find all sorts of people, whom we call roadside entrepreneurs.

These roadside entrepreneurs deal on all kinds of merchandize including foods and foodstuff, drinks, clothes, jewelries, snacks and drugs. They are very energetic, dedicated, friendly, persuasive and daring in their quest to sell their various merchandize. For many Nigerians, these vendors are lifesavers as they provide them with almost all kinds of merchandize, sometimes at relatively cheaper prices than in the conventional stores while they are on traffic.

However, most of these goods sold by the roadside are sometimes underpriced as the environment provides the chance for potential customers to haggle. This is commonly called ‘pricing’. Some roadside traders hardly make proper gains due to this factor. Here are some of their responses on underpricing.
